Pet Loader® Flip for Vehicle Side-Entry

Pet Loader®’s latest model, The Flip, is idea for vehicle side-door entry. By adding functionality to the 12″ & 14″ models, The Flip increases stability over our standard models, and is available as a complete product or an add-on.

Measuring for The Flip

The required clearance for the Pet Loader® Flip width includes both the platform and the link arms, which will contact the metal around the wheel well. The 12-inch wide model needs 14 inches of clearance; the 14.5-inch wide Ultra needs 16.5 inches of clearance. The added clearance is because the link arms are each 1″ wide.

Standard Pet Loader® Models for Side Entry

Pet Loader dog stairs can be used in sedan cars, with the platform resting on the seat. Measure the height from the pavement to the backseat to find the extention height needed. Also measure the door opening, as a platform width of 18″ may be too wide, in which case the 16″ or 12″ platform width will be required. All openings must allow 2″ of additional space to accommodate the actual width of the Pet Loader. The 12″ Mini Pet Loader will fit ALL side entry vehicle doors. The 14.5″ Pet Loader Ultra Light will fit most side door vehicles.

Extension Height

Besides platform material, choose the number of steps (3, 4, 5, or 6) that is right for for the height of your vehicle. Measure vehicle from the pavement to where your pet will enter the vehicle such as the cargo floor, seat, truck bed, etc., and then see our height chart below. Keep in mind the opening width, especially for passenger door openings, as they tend to be more narrow.

As an example, an 18-inch platform needs a minimum of 20 inches, a 16-inch platform needs 18 inches. The door sill only needs 7 inches of flat area for the door sill side entry.

So the best fit for a door entry of 18″ is the 14.5″ Pet Loader Ultra (accounting for the link arm widths.
